Look at what my wonderful hubby helped me build this week!

Of course, I painted before the shelves went up, which was a whole lot easier. I actually mixed together three leftover paints to get this color, and I love it!
It's all so beautiful, I almost hate to start putting everything back in there.
Almost.
But then I look at all the stuff in my hallway and kitchen, and know it must be done!
Tomorrow. But tonight, I'm putting my feet up and enjoying a Sonic Oreo Blast - yum.
These stairs belonged to my sister's Barbie house when we were kids. I always envied her a little, they were so whimsical and fascinating. I secretly wished to someday have a circular staircase of my own, although perhaps more my size...

A few years ago, she gave the house and stairs to my girls, and while the house quickly crumbled and had to be disposed of, you better believe I kept the stairs.
More interesting stairways over on Self Portrait Challenge this month...
The objects of the present life
fill the human eye
with a false magnification
because of their immediacy.

I found this quote in a book I just finished reading - The Silent Governess by Julie Klassen. I enjoyed this piece of fiction immensely, so much so that in a way I wish I hadn't finished it yet!

We're all still under construction, aren't we?

This is also my homage to this sweet little ditty by robin the frog...
Halfway down the stairs
Is a stair where I sit:
There isn't any other stair quite like it.
I'm not at the bottom,
I'm not at the top:
So this is the stair where I always stop.
Halfway up the stairs
Isn't up, and isn't down.
It isn't in the nursery, it isn't in the town:
And all sorts of funny thoughts
Run round my head:
It isn't really anywhere! It's somewhere else instead.
-- A A Milne
I don't have any stairs, so this month's theme at Self Portrait Challenge is definitely challenging! A big thanks goes out to the neighbor who doesn't know me but whose home is still being built in the neighborhood.
Claire's first ever soccer game yesterday! Can you believe this face??

If you know my quiet girl, you know why we were all a little surprised by her game attitude, she never gave up... and she made a goal!!
as I step out of summer into fall, I realize I will miss one while enjoying the other...

This month's Self Portrait Challenge theme is "Stairways", which promises to be intriguing, don't you think?
