This is what happens when you use the night setting option on my husband's point and shoot in a dimly lit cruise ship theater. I like the effect!

Living in the Bahamas is a world away from the life I lead...
The above shot was seen as we slipped into port on Grand Bahama Island on day one of our cruise. This was my favorite island of the trip, it was more like being in the country.
We had a kayaking, swimming & hiking trip on Grand Bahama, for which we took an underwater camera, and I have yet to have those developed & put on cd, so those will have to wait...
Up next, I'm wearing a top I made for this trip!

Of course, I cannot make something from a pattern anymore without greatly altering it - I narrowed the pieces to fit it on one yard of fabric, and I lined it with a shelf bra made from knit instead of traditional lining. I'm very happy with this pattern, love how it looks on, soooo comfortable, I'd definitely make it again!
On day two, we visited the island of Nassau, it was much more crowded and busy...

While my husband and I were gone on our vacation trip last week, I had some time for some good reading, especially on the airplane (ugh - I do not enjoy the long waits that are involved with flying!)
I finally finished reading "Dewey" by Vicki Myron.
This was a wonderful, heartwarming true story, that weaves the lives of a small Iowa town, especially the life of the author, with the life of a cat named Dewey. He was found as a tiny kitten, shoved into the library night book dropbox where Vicki worked, and became the library's cat (his name is Dewey, like the Dewey Decimal system, get it? ha!) I have a special place in my heart for libraries, and this story is the perfect picture of why.
I truly hope a someone committed to making good family films picks this up and makes it into a movie! Yes, I am not always a fan of books made into movies, depending on how it's done, but this story is such a positive one that would be wonderful for the entire family if done well!
I finished "Dewey" during a four hour wait in the Miami airport, on our way to fly home. Since I had nothing else with me to read for the flight, I picked up the June/July issue of Everyday with Rachael Ray.
I was salivating for the entire plane ride - good thing I had some snacks in my carry-on! The best part of this issue is the total devotion to grilling, and the amazing number of useable recipes for adults and kids alike! So many good ideas for making tasty veggies, too, for those who find getting kids to eat veggies a challenge (raising my hand high!)
I've already made a recipe from this issue last night to take to a barbeque, and there are so many delicious ideas that I'm prepared for making them every day this week!

This month's Self Portrait Challenge theme is "Speech Bubbles".
Obviously we are to add a speech bubble to any part of the photograph. Over on Flickr, you can add notes onto the photo itself, and some of us are allowing others to add a note to the speech bubble for what we might be thinking or saying in the photo for fun!
This was from our anniversary cruise to the Bahamas last week. I've never been on a cruise or off the North American continent before, and we had a marvelous time! More photos to come later this week, as I'm still catching up around here.
I've left this week's bubble blank, to allow others on Flickr to add fun notes for I could be thinking of. Otherwise, I kind of like the way it looks like I'm thinking about nothing at all, after all, I was on vacation!
