it's the simple things

A few days ago, my mother-in-law asked me an interesting question - what is my favorite spot our new home. I expect she thought it would be the jetted tub or the bay window nook... and at the time she asked, I was still so overwhelmed with all that needed to be unpacked and organized (not to mention the skunk smell) that I could not think of one single place in all the house I yet enjoyed.

I have now thought of my answer, however, and am posting it here for all to see.

Yes, here is my favorite spot.

This is no ordinary kitchen cabinet.

Oh, no.

This is a roll-out double bin -
the front bin for trash, and the other for recycling.

So now I no longer have a trash can sitting on the kitchen floor. Nor do I have piles of recycling on the counter, awaiting their final transportation to the blue bin in the garage. The best part? It is located between my stovetop and sink, so when I'm cooking or doing dishes, this bin is right there - I roll it open, and let the onion skins or egg shells or cantaloupe rinds just fall in.

Sweet bliss.

Wow, I can see how that would be a great spot. I loved having my trash out of the way, it sits on the floor in the kitchen now. Well, it sits in a can on the floor. :) AND the recycling sits on the counter waiting for someone to take it to the bin. Enyoy it.
